FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q: Do I need to be a member to use TenantCheck?

A: Yes, you must register to use our services, however we do not charge any kind of membership fee. To register, you must complete an Agreement for Service form found in our Landlord Information Package, and supply a scanned copy of your drivers' license, to prove your identity. Your credit card will only be charged at the time that we provide you with a requested credit check, based on our current fee schedule.

Q: Does the prospective tenant need to be aware that I am requesting a credit report on him/her?

A: Yes. In order to obtain credit information on a tenant, you must have them complete a TenantCheck Consent form in their own handwriting, including an original signature. Without the tenant’s signature, we cannot legally access their credit report. Each applicant must complete a separate consent form.

Q: What is the turnaround time for a credit report?

A: TenantCheck guarantees 24 hour turnaround time, but most often we will be back to you within an hour or two.

Q: What method of payment do you accept?

A: We accept Visa and MasterCard. An invoice will be sent to you by email, along with the requested credit report. Please note we do not accept cheques or cash.

Q: What do you recommend I (the landlord) do if the tenant has poor credit?

A: Legally, we cannot make a decision for you. We can provide you with the credit information and go over the report with you in detail, but it is up to you as the landlord to decide if the tenant will be a good fit.

Q: Will I get a discount if I request more than one credit check?

A: Yes, we offer a volume discount when more than one credit check is performed in a calendar month (see our Landlord Information Package for our current rates)

Q: Can you provide me with my own credit report?

A: Personal credit reports are available through TransUnion or Equifax. (See the Useful Links section)
